The phrase "are you my mudder" was a Heidelberg College cross country staple not so long ago. During this beautiful era it was the perfect filler when there was nothing else left to say (which seemed to be often). Its team-wide implementation is said to have originated during the 2005 outdoor track spring break trip to Coastal Carolina University (Myrtle Beach), but this has not yet been confirmed. However, when Dan Graber bought me P.D. Eastman's beloved book (from which we took the phrase) for an early Christmas present just before winter break, December 2005, I was inspired to share the story with others.
